Three useful knowledge about watches (1)
The watch is one of the most common timekeeping tools in our daily life, and it also plays a decorative role in many occasions. So, do you know some little knowledge about watches? Today, let me introduce three little knowledge about watches to you!
What is flyback retrograde?
The flyback function first appeared in a retrograde calendar pocket watch created in 1794 by Mr. Breguet, who is the "father of modern watchmaking". The actual flyback is the reciprocating movement that makes the pointer jump back to the starting point instantly when it reaches the end of the scale. It is generally used in 60-minute timekeeping and calendars, and high-end watches are used for second hand timekeeping.
Because the production process of flyback is complicated, the price of watches with flyback retrograde function is often not cheap. Hurry up and see if your watch has it!
What is Three Needle One Line?
The complete name for three needles and one thread is actually: standard pointer watch. Its characteristic is that the hour hand, minute hand, and second hand on the dial each occupy a dial to time the time separately, and the tails of the three needles all fall on the straight line connected by 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock, so it is called "three needles and one line".
Because the three needles perform their respective functions and do not interfere with each other, the travel time is more accurate than that of ordinary mechanical watches. Three needles and one thread have a strong sense of ceremony, and are most suitable for formal occasions.
Chronograph is a professional name, in which chrono means "time" in Old English and Latin, and graph means "recording tool" in English. The most common in chronographs is the calculation scale system, which is usually engraved on the outermost ring of the dial or on the case.
More common chronographs are used to measure speed. There are many kinds of chronograph structures, mainly divided into single second hand, double second hand, single button type, double button type, etc., which are also a kind of complicated functions in watches.
